Comedy For Beginners
Do you make people laugh? Are you good at writing or telling jokes? Do you think you have a comic personality? Why not take a course for beginners at stand up comedy. Here you can take a basic course learning comedy writing and presentation. You will learn to write punch lines and gags and create material with comedian Robert McHugh. At the end of the course you will be able to test out your gags on a small group.The course is on at the Sydney Community College on August 6 and the price is $249. It runs from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
After this why not head down to the Newmarket Hotel at the corner of Gardeners Rd & Botany Road to relax and have a couple of drinks to end the night. Here you can also get contemporary Australian cuisine from the bistro. There is also a sports bar and a beer garden.
Abba Tribute - Friday 9
Are you a big fan of Abba? Well then this is your chance. Bjorn Again, the Abba tribute band will be bringing their Europop show to down under to Sydney. They are going to be playing at the Enmore Theatre on Friday August 9. Bjorn Again are the only band that have been endorsed by Abba themselves. You will be able to hear some of Abba’s classic songs including Waterloo, Take a chance on me and who can forget Dancing Queen. The price for tickets are from $39.50 to $69.50 and it the show starts at 8pm.
After the show why not head out for a pizza to Gigi Pizzeria, just down the road from the Enmore Theatre. They have a massive woodfire oven which the entire menu is cooked from. They are open Monday - Sunday from 6pm - Late. The price per person including drinks range from $10 to $50.
If you do not feel like a pizza and just want a drink after the show. Head to The Midnight Special instead. The bar has candlelit tables and the tiling has Chinese lanterns. They have a few cocktails like Whiskey Sours and Margaritas as well as a simple but good bar menu. Cheese cubes for $3 or if you want a hotdog, then for $5 you can get one with tomato sauce and American mustard. They are open most days from 5pm - midnight and on Sunday from 2pm - midnight. The weekends are pretty busy so get there early to beat the crowds. The price per person including drinks is up to $50.
