With the basic Model S car you get three different options for the battery. Each battery option are enclosed the same way and are integrated into the vehicle the same way. The batteries use automotive-grade lithium-ion cells which are arranged for optimum energy density, thermal management and safety.  They start from 40 kwh with a range of 257 km and can attain 0 to 97 km/h in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 177 km/h - 85 kwh with a range of 480 km and can achieve 0 to 97 km/h in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 201 km/h. To recharge the battery you can plug it into various different outlets, a 240 volt, a standard 120 volt and also public station. The battery can be recharged at a rate of 99 km range per hour with a 50% charge achievable in 30 minutes. You can also get a high power wall connector which you would locate inside your garage. This enables cars equipped with twin chargers to charge up the vehicle twice as fast. There are also three other models of the Tesla. The Model S Performance, Model S Signature and there is also a Model S Signature. The last two are Limited Editions though. This car is driven by the Tesla’s advance electric powertrain. The motor only has one moving part, the rotor and has a hs a rigid body with a nearly 50/50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity. The unique suspension of the Tesla was developed specifically for this car. It works to provide precise handling and optimum comfort. The active air suspension lowers the vehicle while it accelerates so as to improve the aerodynamics and to increase the range of the vehicle. You are able to raise or lower the vehicle while travelling through thick snow or when pulling into steep driveways. A key feature of the Tesla is a programmable key. This stores your preferred settings for the seat, steering wheel and mirror positions. You do not even have to as little as take the key out of your pocket. As you approach the vehicle you just tap the button, it unlocks for you and once you have buckled yourself into the driver’s seat, the engine comes on. The Tesla can seat 3 adults as well as two children and comes equipped with lots of tech. USB ports. There is no tailpipe on the Tesla so there are no harmful emissions being generated. If car rental companies in major cities, like Sydney do start to move their fleets to vehicles which are all electric or like the Tesla then this would reduce their carbon footprint as well as helping to reduce their maintenance costs for their fleets and the need to refuel their vehicles. This would also reduce the cost for car rental in sydney.
